The Role of Our Website at CedarCreek
At CedarCreek, our website—CedarCreek Church—has a very specific job.
It’s easy to assume a website should answer every question or serve every audience. But that’s not how we’ve designed ours. This isn’t new—but it’s an important reminder.
What We’ve “Hired” the Website to Do
We’ve hired our website to do one primary thing:
Help someone walk through our doors for the first time.
That means everything on the site should serve a first-time guest who is asking:
Big Questions:
- Where is the church?
- What are the people like?
Practical Questions:
- What do I need to bring?
- What is the childcare situation like?
- What should I wear?
- When are in-person services?
When we evaluate content, we ask:
Does this help someone take a first step into CedarCreek?
If the answer is no, it likely doesn’t belong on the website.
We’ve intentionally:
- Hired the website → to help people walk in
- Hired the mobile app → to help people take next steps after they’re in
So when content is more relevant for someone who has already attended, we redirect that content to the app. Its important to know that content built for the mobile app, can always be found using the search bar on our website.
How We’re Reaching People
We’re also being intentional about how people find us.
We’ve partnered with:
- Apollos to strengthen our search engine optimization (SEO) so people can discover us online
- Soarion Digital to ensure our content shows up clearly and credibly in AI-driven search results
- Upstream to improve our Google and Meta presence, helping connect with people ready to take a next step
Each partner plays a different role, but they all support the same goal:
Helping the right people find CedarCreek—and feel confident enough to walk through the doors.
Why This Matters
Every piece of content we add, edit, or request should align with this vision.
We are continuously making small improvements so that:
- We are easy to find in search
- We are trustworthy when surfaced in AI
- We feel relatable and welcoming when people discover us online
Because ultimately, success isn’t just more website traffic.
Success is more people walking through our doors for the first time.
