We do not have to report anything but we do have to follow our license for what is played in our buildings.

In order to find out if we can play something, follow these instructions:

  • Go to IMDB.com
  • Look up your Movie
  • Scroll to: Company Credits
  • Find Production Company and click See More
  • Find the USA Theatrical Rights and take note of that company.
  • Close IMDB.com and go to CVLI.com
  • Click on Producers and Select Total Package
  • See if your USA Theatrical company noted above is on that page. If it IS, you are good to go!

MUSIC

We have to report 3 things:

  1. WorshipCast = The songs that we sing from our stage and broadcast online. This requires us to manually enter this information.
  2. CCLI Rehearse = The songs we host on Planning Center for our band to download and learn/rehearse with.
  3. CCLI = The lyrics that we project or print/distribute. Planning Center tracks this for us but we have to manually report them when CCLI tells us to for 6 month periods every couple years.

1 – WorshipCast

Reporting is required for EVERY WEEK and data is pulled quarterly by CCS.

  • Open https://planningcenteronline.com and login to see what we’ve done over the past month. Open the reporting site: https://apps.christiancopyrightsolutions.com/signin.aspx and login. Login: cedarcreek
  • Choose “Worship Cast” then “Song Log” from the top menu options.
  • Navigate to the current Quarter, click “add a set” in the iCampus section (cedarcreek.churchonline.org)
  • Name it whatever month you are reporting for (i.e. March), click “live streaming” and hit save.
  • Click “add songs” next to the new set/folder you created.
  • Here you will start typing the song names and it will try to auto-search and give you options. It is decent at Christian songs but terrible at secular songs. You are required to put in the song name AND author names. This is NOT the ARTIST, but the AUTHOR.
  • How do you find the authors? Glad you asked…
  • Open the following websites and use their search engines to find the exact song:
  • If not found in any of the above, you may have luck searching other sites like Google, YouTube, Lyric sites, or:
    • All Music: http://www.allmusic.com Once you find the song (search by artist name… sometimes you need “Last, First” sometimes “First Last”, sometimes you can search by song name, but with millions of songs, there are MANY that have the same name.
    • If you don’t see someone in ASCAP, check BMI… if not BMI, check SESAC… then resort to other sites suggested above to get something.
    • If it is an original of ours, no need to report it.

All our entries are pulled by the WorshipCast license company 20 days after the end of a quarter, and they pay royalties to the artists we used.

2 – CCLI Rehearse

Reporting is required for EVERY WEEK.

  1. You make a Planning Center Order of Service
  2. You upload the tracks that go with the songs for people to download
  3. You then log into https://reporting.ccli.com with the following user name: music@cedarcreek.tv
  4. You type in the song/artist/album or whatever you want to search by in the box on the top right, press enter, and “Add to Report” that song.
  5. A pop up will ask how many you handed out as physical copies and how many were streamed (streamed is online) so enter a number and hit add. I’ve been assuming 7 per campus as that covers the band. So if we do a song at 5 sites, that’d be 35 streams.
  6. Repeat for all songs we are posting to PCO for that week and that’s it.

3 – CCLI

Reporting is required only when they tell us it is our turn.

  • Reporting is only required for a 6 month period roughly every 2.5 years. CCLI will contact us to let us know when this happens by emailing music@cedarcreek.tv and by sending a physical letter to the church. The 6 month terms run April – September and October – March. Click HERE for more information on who reports and why. General info can be found HERE.
  • Public Domain songs don’t need to be reported
  • Songs that have no lyrics displayed, no charts printed for musicians, no digital files distributed with music/lyrics… don’t need to be reported. But usually we have some form of everything out there on PCO or ProPresenter… so this would be rare.
  • Reporting CCLI: Reporting: https://olr.ccli.com/ Login: music@cedarcreek.tv
  • Search the song name/author/artist… find it and hit “report song”.
  • There are 4 categories you have to enter a number for. The max number per use is “9”.
  • Print (the # of times lyrics/charts were printed, not the amount made… so if you print 200 copies one time, that is a “1”. If every site prints charts one time, then it’s a “5” currently. I’m not sure how this is used in our environment. We’re pretty digital…)
  • Digital (the # of times a file was emailed, displayed from ProPresenter, saved to a file, etc… this will certainly be a “9” for everything we do)
  • Record (the # of times a file is recorded with the song in it. Again, since we record multiple services at all sites, “9” works here)
  • Translation (we don’t translate languages… 0 works here.)
  • Enter a number for each of the 4 categories. For example, if we were required to report right now and did “Your Love Awakens Me” on Jan 7th
  1. Print: 5
  2. Digital: 9
  3. Record: 9
  4. Translation: 0
  • Hit “Add to Report” and move on to the next one.
  • Click the green “Done Reporting” at the bottom when you are finished.
